We bought 2 Triple-celled Bat Houses in '09 and, after painting them Avocado green, placed them about 18 feet up a pole in east/west positions. Nothing happened until this past May when I heard chittering coming from one of the houses. Looked up and found about 5 or 6 bats in the west-facing house, which is actually the shadier side due to nearby trees. Then earlier this month I checked again and discovered their numbers had increased to about 40! Still no occupants in the east-facing house, but when the bats migrate out we'll reposition that house to a more west-facing direction and see if they find the new position more appealing when they return.
The Bat Houses are of excellent quality and design.

Excellent bat box, I just found out a few days ago that I had a small colony of 30 or more. It took 4 years for the bats to find the box and move in. I have the box sitting on a 10 foot 1 inch pole in a field. I painted the box a light brown color because it gets very hot here in Virginia. Very cool to see them drop from the bottom of the box and take to the air!
